Please give us a short summary of your website?
Almost all of my products are all natural. Beauty is in nature, so nature makes our bodys beautiful. All products have been tested on people for feedback on the quality(all positive). Everything I carry can be customized to the individuals taste. Customers choose their favorite scents and colors and I make the products to order.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
I have very sensitive skin and what is called Urticaria (Hives). I have found that soaking in certain salts three times a week was keeping the hives from coming up. Around Christmas time I thought that maybe making bath salts as gifts for family and friends would be nice. So I came up with different variations to find the best recipe. The only thing I can think of when taking a bath in my salts is "Ahh...Divine Serenity" Hence the name!
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
This is my first website and it was launched in March of this year (2008)
How did you decide on a name for your website?
Explained up above
What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?
One example would be that most store bought bath salts only consist of 1 to 2 salts in their ingredients. My bath salts consist of 5 different salts.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
My biggest goal is to have my products sold nationwide in stores, Id like to have my own little boutique with a full complete line of all natural bath and body products.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
So far, I put way more money into the business to get it started, but thats the way it goes. Eventually I hope the money will come back in sales.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
I would put way more money into advertising to get the biz going.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Yes, everything I do I can make and keep up within a reasonable time frame.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
Website not working properly, Not being notified when I recieve an order online. In April, I was invited to attend a large Trade show. I put about $500 into the show and had maybe three sales from it. But at least I got my name out there.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Getting more customers
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Word of mouth. I pass out samples with my business card attached so that people try my products and hopefully go to the website and order more.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
I expected more orders by having a website than not.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
Ive had the site up and running since March, so its been about almost 4 months now. I plan on keeping it going for as long as it takes to get the business up and going.
What could you do to improve your business and website?
I plan on marketing more products, all in the "all-natural" catagory. The more products I carry, hopefully the better sales. People can customize anything that I carry to suit themselves or who ever they are buying for.
