jin shin Academy of Natural Healing Interview
Name of your website?

Academy of Natural Healing

Your name?

kenya

Your Location (city, etc)

Greenwood Village

Please give us a short summary of your website?

Academy of Natural Healing by Isabelle Hutton gives info about her natural healing treatments classes in alternative medicine, specializing in reflexology and jin shin. Isabelle also offers five beautifully detailed reflexology charts.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

Actually, I'm a friend of Isabelle and I manage her site for fun in my spare time. I took over managing her site three years ago because her webmaster was taking advantage of her by making promises about the visibility of her site via search engines.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

Through her previous webmaster, Isabelle started her one and only site in 2003.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

She wanted a uniquely branded domain name, so her given name was perfect.

What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?

It offers a very personal touch with customers having access via phone or email pretty much at any time.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

To keep creating new content so it does eventually become a top site for "reflexology," "alternative medicine," and other popular keyword phrases.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

I do this for Isabelle for fun and for free, but I've learned a lot about search engines so I'm constantly getting ideas about my own projects.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

Have someone put asp.net in her server. I would love to learn asp.net if i had the time. Maybe someday.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

probably, because if her site got really big, the niche market that it's in is not prone to having to continually answer customers questions, thus taking up a lot of her time. All appointments and product ordering is done on her site. There's a very limited amount of people interested reflexology, acupressure, etc.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

Simply...knowing nothing about script language when I took over her site. I learned from books and made tons of mistakes along the way.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Getting her site listed in google's top 20 for certain keyword phrases like "reflexology charts," "reflexology classes," and others.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Choosing good link partners, original content.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

It takes patience and time to get a site noticed. It wasn't like what I read in SEO books when I started ;0)

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

Three years so far and I'll keep doing it until one of her kids wants to take over.

What would I do differently if I were to start a website from scratch again?

Since Isabelle's site was virtually in oblivion when I took over managing it for her, I did start from scratch except the language was already in place. So, I would have learned a different script language like asp or php which would have saved me a lot of time with various changes

What is your website address?
