diy herbs Interview

Name of your website?

diy herbs

Your name?

Caroline Luley

Your Location (city, etc)

Cocoa Beach

Please give us a short summary of your website?

This blog is about making life easier, cheaper, healthier and more natural. Make anything and everything yourself using herbs and other natural items. I have recipes, projects, herbals & nature crafts all for you to DIY.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

I have worked for a long time with herbal crafts, gardening, growing herbs and cooking with herbs and wanted to share my knowledge and expertise.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

It was a small site on ecrater, selling used stuff and vintage collectibles.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

It just came to me and I liked it.

What makes it different from other, similar offerings?

I give detailed recipes and instructions, allowing my readers to work along with me.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

To use the site to launch a line of ebooks I'm currently introducing.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

I have spent way more of everything than I have gotten back. However, joy counts for something.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

I would market it more effectively.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

Yes.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

Just the learning curve and working long hours for no reward.

What has been your biggest challenge?

To reach an audience.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Entrecard, Blog Catalog and Project Wonderful have gotten me visitors.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

It hasn't. I sort of knew what would happen.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

I have been running this site since last summer and will maintain it for as long as I have new stuff to post.

What is your website address?
