Name of your website?Canadian Vitality - Offering quality natural health products online
Your name?
Tanya Paquette
Your Location (city, etc)
Cambridge
Please give us a short summary of your website?
My website is dedicated to all those people out there who use "all natural" health supplements and products. I use them myself.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
I worked in a corporate job which entailed ALOT of stress, and the stress was killing me.....it felt that way anyways. I thought, there has got to be something better than this in life. I have always wanted to be my own boss, and since I am passionate about "all natural" products, I thought what better business to run than one that fits with my passion?
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
this is my first website
How did you decide on a name for your website?
well alot of names were taken already, and I wanted my name to give the message of ENERGY, so I ended up with Canadian Vitality.
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
well one thing that bothers me these days is the LACK of customer service......I have emailed several sites on several things within the last week, and received NO response......these are BIG websites too.......this is not good customer service in my books......I will pay special attention to customer service because I think itis something that is lacking these days.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
My goal is to keep it for income, so that I never have to return to corporate stress.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
It's hard to say, I am just getting started. I have invested alot of time and money so far, and I hope it pays off.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
I would add a 1-800 number and round the clock phone customer support.....I probably will in the future....
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Yes, I will hire when it is time to do so.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
hardly any yet....I am fairly new, so I imagine that will come in time
What has been your biggest challenge?
the search engines.......plus some people thought I was crazy to leave my corporate job to run my own business.....so I guess I don't have much emotional support and I have to draw upon my own strength here to succeed in the face of those who do not beleive in me. None of them are business owners so I guess I can't expect them to understand.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
well I have already had promotional materials made up for distribution but I guess business directories so far....we'll see as I battle the search engine dilemma
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
it was alot more work just to launch than I expected....it took me longer than I expected
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
A week. It is hard to say how long I can stick in there......I am defintely going to stick it out as long as I can......that is a road I will cross when I get there.
your own question
How many business owners out there had to do it without emotional support? Did people think you were crazy?
