When there is something we need to know, we faced our computers and go to Google. We all know Google is the God of search engines and it amazingly has the power to know more than you know. 99% of the time, it gives you the right answers to your inquiries. But right now, Google is working in something worth the note for our doctors and medical personnel. Google has made a breakthrough with their newest part of the family, the Google Flu Trends.
The giant search engine company received thousands to millions of keyword searches a day. One of the keyword that is always present in their servers everyday is something about flu. If you searched for "flu symptom" or perhaps "medications for flu" via Google, the godly search engine knows where you are and they will count your inquiry to their system.
This will then be compiled into a file and will form the Google Flu Trend, wherein their servers will detect which place or state gets has the flu trend. With the use of Google Flu Trends, you will be able to monitor the activity level of Flu in your very own state and neighboring places.
The Flu Trends site can be used by almost anyone. Whether you are a student, a medical professional, epidemiologist, a bummer or just a a plain dude who only wants to know more about flu, you can have access to it.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention created this site with Google to monitor the influenza outbreak in different states. The site operates on the idea that there is likely to have an influenza outbreak on places with numbers of flu related searches. Perhaps the only bad thing about it is that it doesn't know whether you are just a student who has an assignment on flu and is researching about it. Pity that the computer will count you in as one of those who has influenza.
You can visit it by going to the Google Flu Trends page.
