Juice Plus+ is a whole food nutritional vitamin supplement made from whole foods. Juice Plus+ contains nutrients from a variety of fruits and vegetables, and unlike vitamins, is whole food nutrition and backed by numerous studies and research.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
The site was inspired by the need to educate the public about their deficiency in fruit and vegetable consumption and to offer a solution for getting whole food nutrients from a variety of fruits and vegetables.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
Our first site was launched in 1998 and it was for our weight loss book that was based on the authors amazing weight loss success of 130 pounds.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
The name of the first site was chosen as the authors name. The name of the site with the recommended Juice Plus+ supplement was chosen with two things in mind. First the juice from the fruits and vegetables is what is used to get the concentrated nutrients from the fruits and vegetables when they are dried. And secondly, the nutrition that is gained from taking Juice Plus+ is the next best thing to the actual fruits and vegetables. Hence, the name 'juicenutrition.us' - with the US being the extension chosen as that is the country that we primarily serve.
What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?
The difference with our website and the product offered is that most sites that sell vitamin supplements are selling a synthetic version of those vitamins. Then there are some that are not synthetic, yet they are a liquid from one source. Juice Plus+ is neither, but a concentrate - a powder - of nutrients from the whole foods, and put into a capsule for easy consumption.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
Our goal is to continue to sell Juice Plus+, while building an organization of distributors who help spread the word about good health.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
Our investment of time and money has brought a great return, not only in the many success stories from customers who have used Juice Plus+, but great financial gains as well.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
If we had an unlimited budget, we would be better equipped to market globally.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
If our site got really big, really quick, we would have some difficulties keeping up with the demand, but we would make the necessary adjustments to adapt.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
The unexpected costs and 'headaches' have been properly handling customer support, the most important part of keeping a good business thriving.
What has been your biggest challenge?
The biggest challenge has been efficiency - using the limited number of hours in a day most effectively in order to continue stable, manageable growth.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
The method most successful for us promoting our website has been the organic searches on many search engines for a variety of search terms related to diet, health, and supplements.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
Running the website has been much more exhilerating than ever expected, with the opportunities and challenges providing great rewards.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
We have run all of our websites for an average of seven years and don't see stopping anytime soon.
What is your best advice for someone starting out with a website?
If your starting out, the best advice is to have a plan. Read a few of the marketing suggestions from different sources, then begin implementing. Too much knowledge with too little action results in no progress. The formula is simple, but requires constant action forward. Eventually, you start to see returns if you continue to 'build' on each action everyday, every week, and every month. Be persistent.
