When my grandmother died some two years ago, we were all near her bed in the hospital with my mom holding her hands. A few seconds because she gave her last breath, she clearly stated that she wanted my mom to live longer than she did.My grandmother is my mom's greatest adviser. She is my mom's best friend. She would looked up to her in such a manner she would treat a queen of a country. We all know why she cared a lot for my mom. Not only that she is the only daughter in their family, it's also because she used to be the one who was always sick and always weak.
Just recently my mom was brought to the hospital due to failure of the heart to function well. Fortunately, she survived yet another attacked. She's always been like that, she would suffer heart attacks once every year. Provided that my father is a doctor, it pains him knowing that there's nothing he can do to take that cursed disease in my mom's bloodline.
Today, we are celebrating my grandmother's birthday and as I see it in my mom's eyes who have just recovered from her recent failure of the heart, she is determined to fulfill her mother's wish. She wanted to live longer than she did. And she made that clear.
Although she has taken good care of herself by eating just the right foods for her, taking her medications properly and not getting herself exhausted with the daily activities, we are always on the eye for her. We want to help her fulfill her promises to her mom and we want to keep her as long as possible. Afterall, there's no better mom in the world for us than her.
In a few weeks from now, my sister and a private nurse will be flying with my mom to the province to stay there for good. We have always wanted to take her to the province before to get a better environment and a more healthy surrounding. Many times she refused to go because she wanted to stay near her mother's grave. But this time, she's the one who insisted to live in the province. That of course is all part of her plan to have a longer life, not only to fulfill her mom's dying wish, but also to fulfill our wish for her that she stay stronger and healthier than ever.
