Holistic Ayurveda presents information about ayurveda, ayurvedic herbs, ayurvedic remedies and ayurvedic medicine based on original, ancient textbooks of ayurveda and modern scientific medicine.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
When I searched over the net about ayurveda, the available information is too much simplified, rather surrounded around lifestyle and herbal remedies.
Ayurveda is much more than herbs or herbal remedies. I had been passionate right from my college days to represent original ayurveda based on ancient textbooks of ayurveda such as Charaka Samhita. My effort is to present this info in its originality with emphasis on practical use in modern times.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
My first website had been http://www.holistic-herbalist.com/index.html and it has been a successful website about medicinal herbs and herbal remedies.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
I had thought for a name around ayurveda. I tried to have name based on a Numerology or you can say a bit of superstition. Ayurveda-textbooks got the number 8 and that is why I chose it.
Second consideration had been the keyword "Ayurveda books" and it is important as my website is based on the most ancient textbook of Ayurveda - Charaka Samhita.
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
Most of ayurveda websites revolve around selling remedies. Some other good websites present some initial level primary information. I tried to present comprehensive interpretation of ayurveda book Charaka Samhita with my comments.
Visitos will find it as a comprehensive online resource of ayurveda.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
First to represnt Ayurveda as it is truly - holistic, individual centered, personalized, highly experiential and practical.
Second, to write a book on Charaka Samhita and ayurvedic herbs and remedies.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
Presently this website is not earninng revenues enough to meet the webhosting. I plan to monetize it with advertisement, selling of ebooks and ayurveda consultation in 2008.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
If I have unlimited budget, I will do...
1.. Will work on this project full time. 2. develop ebooks, practical courses, webinars, teleseminars and flash based ayurveda tutorials that could serve the needs of specific groups of people like infants, kids, girls, men, women, aged persons; holistic profile for various disorders like hypertension, insomnia, anxiety, depression, stress; devise tools for prevention of disorders and enhancement of health.
Simply to help people live a healthier and happier life.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
yes, I am passionate about it. If I am able to make a modest earning as little as $1000 per month from all the three websites that I started, I will full time and enjoy writing for health unplugged.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
Not much except webhosting.
Getting time to maintain three informative websites after working 9 hours everyday for 25 days a month.

What has been your biggest challenge?
Getting right keywords as I have to write pages for ayurveda aphroisms. Writing for them is easy but setting that writing within the setting of online writing is different.
'Samvaya' is an ayurveda term and it means 'inherent properties' and it is not related to ayurveda niche or related keywords. So this happens to be more difficult aspect - adjusting writing for online use.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Simply sharing some links with relevant and related websites, organic traffic, by writing SEOized webpages.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
Not getting self-sufficient revenues in the first year.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
I bought this domain and hosting in 2006 Christmas holiday. I plan to breakeven my investments. I do plan to run it as long as i live.
How Ayurveda And Ayurvedic Principles Can Empower Our Lives?
Ayurveda principles had been right there in nature just like the force of gravity or electricity. Some ancient sages grasped them and manifested them in a form of knowledge and wisdom. This wisdom is propagated for thousands of years and newer and newer approaches, practical uses and implications are devised.
Everyone is using the principles of ayurveda - knowingly or unknowingly. We can empower our health in a great way if we are conscious of these principles and apply them.
